Troglodyte

Troglodytes, or the cave dwellers, are the result of an ancient witch's curse on a gang of ruffians, causing them to be "one with the caverns". They all vary in appearance, though all troglodytes have stone skin, thick spikes half a foot long jutting out in random places, and large, marble-looking claws on their hands and feet. Troglodytes are cursed with immunity to natural death, though most are just killed off by wandering adventurers. The affliction has spread through the contagious disease known as Troglanthropy, which can turn the victim into a cave dweller in up to two weeks. Troglodytes are extremely violent, as a sentient fungus grows inside of the head and infects the brain, causing the infected victim to become a ravenous slave to the disease. There is only one known treatment for Troglanthropy, but the ingredients for the potion are few and far between. The potion itself just negates all of the major symptoms and physical changes, as it is currently impossible to fully cure it. Infected people under this treatment still feel a violent pain in the head every so often, which is the fungus attempting to grow and attach itself to their brain. Troglodytes are generally found wherever there is a large cave system, usually deep underground.
